Raul L. Butland

Raul L. Butland was born in 1959 at Scott Air Force Base outside of Belleville, Illinois. Born the son of an Air Force Serviceman, Raul enjoyed growing up all over the world. Life as a military brat wasn’t always easy. However, the ability to see the world at a young age and understand the value of different cultures and customs was a horizon broadening experience he has valued throughout his adult life.

 

Raul was stationed at Hahn Air Force Base at the age of 16, in 1976. He attended Hahn High School and graduated in 1978. He spent the next 30 years of his life living and struggling in Germany. He married his German high school sweetheart and had two children, Melissa and Michael.

 

During his tenure in Germany, Raul worked for: AAFES (Army and Air Force Exchange Service) at various Dept. of Defense military installations in Germany, starting as a laborer and finishing as a manager after 13.5 years, as a franchise owner for Eismann Tiefkuhlkost GmbH & Co KG in Muehlheim Kaerlich, Germany, as Director of Studies for inlingua Schools of Languages in Koblenz and Neuwied, Germany, as Technical Translator/English Coach for 1&1 Internet AG in Montabaur, Germany, as well as General Manager at 1&1 Ltd in Slough, England, and finally as Director of Strategic English Learning (his own language school) and General Manger of American Business Communications (his own translation services company) in Sohren, Germany.

 

Raul returned to the USA in 2006 after his divorce to help his brother and sister tend to his ailing father.
